# API Versioning & Deprecation Policy

SpaceCorps Hangar follows strict Semantic Versioning for all public API endpoints and client SDKs.

## Current Versions

- **API v1**: `https://hangar.sliplane.app/api/v1` (Active, Stable, Long-Term Support)
- **Status**: Stable. No sunset or deprecation planned.
- **Minimum Support Window**: All published `v1` endpoints are guaranteed supported until at least December 31, 2031.

## Deprecation Notice Protocol

1. **Advance Notice**: When an API endpoint or parameter is marked for future replacement, a minimum 12-month advance notice is published in API release notes and via standard HTTP response headers (`Deprecation`, `Sunset`, and `Link: <...>; rel="deprecation"`).
2. **Sunset Header**: Sunsetting endpoints will include standard RFC 8594 `Sunset: <HTTP-date>` headers specifying the precise retirement date.
3. **Backward Compatibility**: Non-breaking enhancements (additive fields, optional query parameters) are released continuously within the active major version without version bumps.
